redundant port

Hi,

does anyone know if there are any plans to aggregate the ports on the EqualLogic PS4110E controllers.

Seems daft to have a dual port card and dual cards (for redundancy) that you can only use 1 port on?

Surely there must be an easy firmware change to make better use of the adapters?

The controllers operate in an active/passive mode.  So what happens is that I/O is mirrored to the passive controller, and this will allow for instantaneous failover to the passive controller in the event of a controller hardware failure.

However, for the PS61x0 and the PS41x0 series, they support “Vertical Port Failover”.  In vertical port failover, if CM0 senses a link drop on the local ETH0 port connection path, it will automatically begin using the ETH0 port on the backup controller (CM1).

You also might want to give your Sales Rep a call and get an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) in place, this way they can discuss with you any questions you have about future plans for the PS arrays.

Also, there aren't 2x 10GbE ports on a PS4110.  It's 1x 10GbE port with different media connections options.  The only other network port is 10/100Mb Dedicated Management port.
