Clean shutdown for EqualLogic PS5000X

We recently installed 3 EqualLogic PS5000x SANs. We need to relocate them. We have no idea how to perform a clean shutdown of them. Can some one please help and provide best practice.

Thanks!

Hi Gio4, this is what our internal training has on the subject:

The following shutdown procedure should be used to prevent the unnecessary lose of data.

Problem

* What is the proper PS Series array shutdown process?

Resolution

* Disconnect all hosts from iSCSI. (Log off volumes.)
* Use a Telnet/SSH/serial connection to connect to the array.
* Issue the CLI command: shutdown
o If using Telnet,/SSH, you will lose the connection and won't see the shutdown process complete.
o Ping the group IP address to confirm the array is no longer responding to requests.
* Power down both power supplies on the array.

This guy also has a thread on the subject:

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I was concerned about corrupting the pools as they are across 3 EQLs. This looks to be what I was looking for.

Do yourself a favor and connect the serial cable to each member to execute the shutdown command. You want to make sure each member flushes cache and shuts down completely by seeing the following messages.

The array has been halted.
You can safely power off the array or type any key to restart the array.
