Audio CD not recognized

I have a Dell Inspiron 1100. My HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4243N no longer reads audio CDs at all. DVD and Software CDs are reading fine. In the device manager it says my device is working properly. I ran the diagnostics test and it says media is not present in the drive....etc. It just doesn't recognize there is a CD in there at all. I have all the drivers downloaded and installed. Thanks in advance for any help
