Bios Update Dell Inspiron 1501

Im repairing a dell inspiron 1501 for a friend of mine.

The dreaded battery not recognised fault,

In device manager i am getting code 35 on a few devices eg. Graphics card, even after a clean install.

I tried to update the bios but as soon as it trys to write to the chip i get a BSOD which i cannot get to stay up long enough to read.

I have also tried to update using a dos bootable usb stick, but the update files dont work in dos.

I am running bios version 2.3.0, and have tried to flash 2.6.1 A14,  2.6.2 A15,  and 2.6.3 A16 to no success.

Can anyone sugest how i might proceed from here?

I Managed to flash the bios successfully by running the update file on Bart PE Live CD.
