Connecting Dell E228WFPc monitor to XPS L502X

Hi,

I have just bought a new XPS  L502X and wanted to hook it up to my previous Dell monitor which is model number E228WFPc. The new laptop doesn't have a DVI-D or D-Sub port so I tried to hook it through the HDMI port using a couple of cable converters - but no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Wondering42,

Welcome to the Community.

The monitor you are talking about has 2 types of ports:

1 x DVI-D - 24 pin digital DVI

1 x VGA - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15)

You can use any DVI-HDMI or VGA-HDMI connectors to connect it.

Check the connections properly. the HDMI cable should connect to the laptop and the other to the monitor. Check the picture below. The HDMI or the small flat port needs to be connected the the laptop and the DVI cable from the monitor should go into the bigger socket as shown below.

Please respond in case you need any further assistance or clarification.

Glad to help!
