Dell Inspiron 14z bluetooth driver virus?

Hello,

Just got a dell inspiron 14z. Panda is detecting a virus in a file named "btfilter.sys", which is part of the bluetooth driver.
I tried to download the latest drivers from the support section, but it says file not found.

So, are dell aware of the issue with the drivers? Is the driver really infected ? I don't want to just exclude it from Panda, until I get more info on the issue.

Help is appreciated.

King regards,
RG

Hi RG,

I had no issues downloading the Dell Centrino Advanced-N 6230 drivers from the support site. Perhaps the support site was temporarily down and gave the file not found error. It will be safe to remove the virus and install the drivers.

Try installing the Bluetooth driver from this link: http://dell.to/U94d3k

Please reply with the results.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply. The file flagged by Panda is part of:

www.dell.com/.../inspiron-14z-5423

( File in question is "btfilter.sys" )

The file gets flagged during the installation process as well. I suspect is a false-positive, but I want to be completely sure.

There is a package with a newer release date, containing older versions of both drivers:

www.dell.com/.../inspiron-14z-5423

However, when I try to download it comes with the message - "Not Found".

King regards,

RG

Hi RG,

If the antivirus is not able to remove the virus, I would advice you to back up all your data, files, music and pictures etc on a external hard drive or DVDs so that we can restore the system back to factory settings. This will ensure the virus does not effect other OS files.

Steps to perform PC restore in windows 7: http://dell.to/NBr4OY

Please reply with the results.

Look, we got 4 of those laptops, brand new, the situation is the same for all four. They came with the driver installed and Panda AV immediately flagged it. Tried reinstalling it from the resource CD, Panda flagged it during install. Tried the package from the support site, still flagged during install.

You obviously, did not read my previous post. Please, hold your generic answers and pass the issue to your superiors. Thank you.

Hi,

In order to escalate this issue, please provide the screen shots of the Panda antivirus flagging this particular file and also provide screen shots that could provide some description. If possible, scan the system with a different anti-virus software and post the results.

Here is the message from Panda: http://i.imgur.com/7Ki8u.jpg

The file is part of the bluetooth driver. Can you confirm that this is a false-positive. Thanks
