Dell Inspiron 5576 Graphics Issues

For some reason when I game my laptop ALWAYS uses the onboard graphics and NEVER switches to the dedicated GPU! What's the point of the Dual GPU if it NEVER works?

Hi DarkSorrow82,

Thanks for posting.

Apologies your computer is not working the way you would want it to.  The Dual GPU will kick in when the  system detects the need for additional graphics support.  Maybe the game you are playing isn't intense enough.  Here is some information you may find helpful: http://dell.to/2xKozJq

Where are you looking to determine which GPU is active?  The AMD GPU is not a dedicated, separate GPU - it's a coprocessor.  It feeds all data to the Intel GPU as it passed to the screen.  So -- the Intel GPU will ALWAYS show active to windows and most utilities.

I use a program that runs an overlay inside my games. It shows both graphic card usages and tells how much GPU percent is being used along with the frequency,. It shows GPU1 using the most power and never switching to GPU2.
