Dell Studio 17 audio upgrade

I see where Dell has upgraded the audio for the Studio 17. It now comes with a JBL 2.1 SRS Premium Sound with a 6 watt Subwoofer. Does anybody know what the previous audio consisted of.  Is the new audio a drastic improvement over the previous audio that Dell offered.
