Dell Webcam Central problem ((Windows 8))

Hello,

I upgraded my INSPIRON  5110n  to Windows 8 lately and been trying to install some of Dell software to it such as Dell Webcam Central, on my own account and my page I went to My Dell Software and found the links to download it, but it seems there's only the old version for all of those provided software, some of them back to 2010, even after downloading it crash everytime I try to open it, but I got the update message saying I should update to the latest version for Dell Webcam Central and when I click on update it take me to Creative upgrader tool, after scanning it tells me that I have the most recent version for that software which I believe is wrong.

Help me folks I want the latest version of Dell Webcam Central that works on Windows 8 please!

yami-samurai,

Dell Webcam Central is not needed for Windows 8, but it's fun to use and does work with Windows 8.

When you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the drivers in the correct order? How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Windows 7/8 is supposed to provide the webcam drivers for most Dell computers. If you system needs webcam drivers, go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag, then select your operating system. If your system needs webcam drivers, they'll be listed under Input.

Try reading...

Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software

You can try this file, also known as Dell Webcam Central.

Create a new unrestricted user account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?

If yes, log out and log back in to your account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?

If no, then the webcam became detached from the motherboard, usually near the webcam

If your computer is under warranty, contact Dell Tech Support

Mr.Rick, thank you for your reply,

The webcam driver is working fine on windows 8 but this isn't my issue, I just wanted to install the Webcam Central on Windows 8, the link you provided for me is an older version of Webcam Central, it's 1.4 and it did work on Windows 8, while the one I had on my software page which was version 2 crashed.

Thank you for trying to help, but I still need the latest version for that software,  because I can't rely on the updater feature on that software, it keeps saying I have the latest version while I had the 1.4 which is far to be true.

Thanks again.

yami-samurai,

If you had a later version of Windows...

Please use Internet Explorer(32-bit) when navigating to My Dell Downloads :: Login. Use the same email address and password you use here. Click on add system. The latest version of Dell Webcam Central can be found there.

***Systems purchased befor April 1, 2010 might NOT register with Dell My Downloads***

yami-samurai,

The 2.00.44 version will update with no problems. On the Windows 7 system I'm using, it's version 2.01.17

JitNdrA,

Maybe one of your other programs are using the webcam, like an IM or skype

Test Webcam What do you see?

I hope this helps anyone else looking to fix this issue.

What you need to do is close out of Webcam Central and then go to the folder with the executable.  It should be:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Webcam\Dell Webcam Central"

Right click on the WebcamDell2.exe file and click properties.  Now go to the Compatibility tab and check the box to run it in Windows 7 compatibility mode.  I also checked the box to run program as an administrator.  Now run the WebcamDell2.exe to launch the Webcam software again.  Try to do the update and it now should find the latest version and allow you to install it.

never again go back to buy dell, I have had bad experience with my dell computer in all aspects and servicing is bad, now that you upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 I run into the problem of the Dell Webcam Central does not. I'm very disappointed it's a shame.

If there is any driver to fix my problem please tell me where to download it.

Thank you.
