Dell XPS 17 L702X Webcam stopped working during Skype call

Hi,

Please allow me to explain the problem. I have Dell XPS L702X laptop which i updated to Windows 8.1 around a year ago. Everything was working fine until today when suddenly the webcam stopped working during a skype call.

Steps i tried thus far:

Tried restoring the Windows which failed consistently

Tried downloading Webcam software for Dell XPS 17 but there is no match for OS 8.1

Tried Installing the "Quanta H.264 Integrate Webcam Driver" for windows 7 but it failed saying the OS version should be XP SP 2 or above where as mine is Windows 8.1

I have checked the device manager and it did not show the Imaging Device

I tried viewing the Hidden Devices but it is also not showing.

Please help me.

Regards,

Shailesh

Hi Shailesh,

Good work on troubleshooting. I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the computer. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS required onto the system and install it.

Also, I would suggest you to run the test on Webcam on the system.

1.       Open the link http://dell.to/14YjKb2

2.       Select ‘Hardware’ under ‘Advanced’ tab.

3.       Select ‘Camera’.

4.       Click on ‘Run Diagnostics’ button.

5.       Let me know if the results.
