Dim screen on Inspiron 1150

This dim screen hit when I was away from the computer for a while after using it an hour or so that day.  At first I thought the screen was blank but by shining a bright light on it I could make out some high contrast parts.  Fn plus up arrow has no effect.  Was able to get into BIOS but the screen is so dim I could not read any of the words, so I shut down on the spot.  Am plugged in, and there's no docking ports.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
