Inspiron 1100 - Can't upgrade BIOS - "Running on an unsupported system"
Downloaded A22 to upgrade from A06 to A32. Downloaded ISO file (don't have floppy).
Read somewhere that this computer needs A22 before it can be upgraded to A32
Burned CD on my mac which put these 4 files on the CD:
BOOTCAT.BIN
BOOTIMG.BIN
I1100A22.TXT
README.TXT
Hit F12 on bootup and selected the CD but it will not boot, goes into XP
Am I missing something? Do I have any other options to get A22 installed?
I posted this in another discussion back in February but didn't get a reply so I thought I'd try it again.
Thanks

Hi designITall,
I would like to know the reason you want to flash BIOS.
BIOS updates aren’t big software upgrades that add new features, security patches, or performance improvements. BIOS updates typically have very short change logs – they may fix a bug with an obscure piece of hardware or add support for a new model of CPU.
If your computer is working properly, you probably shouldn’t update the BIOS. You likely won’t see the difference between the new BIOS version and the old one. In some cases, you may even experience new bugs with a new version of the BIOS, as the BIOS that came with your computer may have gone through more testing.
Revert to this post for further queries.

Hi Sujatha,
I burned the CD again and was able to upgrade fro A06 to A22, and then to A32.
I'm giving this old laptop to my parents so I just wanted to make sure it has the latest BIOS to reduce the risk of any hardware bugs.
Since I was able to upgrade I deleted my posts.
Thanks for the fast reply. I appreciate it.
