Inspiron 1564 lcd not showing anything

Hello. I have a dell inspiron 1564. On start up my system boots properly as I get the windows booting sound. But I am not able to see anything on the screen. Its just black. It was running till a couple of hours back but I had switched it off for sometime and when I switched on,  this happened. Please suggest how to get it working. Thanks!

Hi jrajwanshi,

I suggest you to connect an external monitor to the VGA port and check if the image appears on it properly. You can also run the LCD screen's bulit in test to check if it is working properly by following the steps provided below:

1. Shut down the laptop.
2. Press and hold the key while pressing the Power button.
3. Release the buttons when diagnostics begin by displaying color bars.

The LCD screen needs to be replaced, if it fails the built-in self test.

Hi,

Correction DELL-Rajath N:

3rd point - You would get a page full of Red - Green - Blue - White - Black followed by beep sound. Not Color bars.

jrajwanshi: Check whether you get these colors followed by beeping noise. If you dont get the colors but you get the beep noise, then your LCD is faulty.

After this Rajath can be of help. Thanks
