Inspiron 6400 Ram upgrade?

Hello everyone, I am considering upgrading my sister's laptop dell inspiron 6400 series (I myself have the 1545 inspiron). well, I would like to know the detail specification of the type of RAM i need to buy to install it.I am interested in installing a 2GB RAM.

Moreover, anybody can tell me the RAM frequency? is it 553, 533 or 667 mhz?.. I have a dilemma between these three... which frequency should I buy?

Can anybody provide me a description about how to install the RAM myself?

Thank you for your much appreciated help

One way you can check is to go to www.crucial.com Once there, run their memory scanning tool. It should tell you what type and how much memory you have, as well as suggest compatible memory for the laptop.

Though some have reported the system will take 2X2G soDIMMs, the official support is for 2X1 G, PC2-5300 RAM.

Installation is as follows:

For the reports of systems that take 4GB, I believe the supported memory is based on several factors such as BIOS revision and processor model. For the E1505, which Dell lumps together with the 6400, the limit is supposedly 2GB as well, but all of them that I have ever worked with (12 or 13 so far) have supported 4GB of RAM.
