Inspiron N5110- Power Won't Turn Off
When I close the lid to my laptop, the screen goes black but the power doesn't turn off. I can still see the power light stll on. It won't go into sleep or hibernate mode. When I open the lid, the screen still stays black and I have to restart my computer and then it says something that it didn't shut down properly. Is there anything I can do to fix it without having to take it in somewhere?

Hi chels35,
You may try and uninstall the video drivers from 'Device Manager' and re-install. To uninstall and re install the drivers:
Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected and the battery is charged 10% or above to update the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.
If the issue persists, you may try changing the power button and lid settings to sleep or hibernate and see if it helps. For detailed information on this, you may refer to link: http://bit.ly/12Z37v9
Please share the findings.

Mine just started doing the same thing. When I shut it down the screen goes black, but the power lights all stay lit. It also consumes battery.
