My Dell D830 is possessed!

Ok, not really, but it got your attention.  Will someone please tell me how to disable the touch pad?  I only use my mouse, and my hand and/or sleeve keep brushing the touch pad and either I end up on other pages, or everything I've written disappears...whichever happens, I  am not a happy camper.:emotion-39:  Please help me to  return to the land of the unpossesed!

p.s. I put WIN8 on here a few months ago, I hate it!  I'm getting ready to  put 7 back on it...

Hi Studio Girl,

Please try the below mentioned steps to disable touchpad:

  1. Switch on the computer, tap F2 at dell logo to enter BIOS screen.
  2. Use the up and down arrow keys and select the option “Post Behavior” and press enter key.
  3. Select “Mouse /Touchpad” and press enter.
  4. From the list on the right side of the computer select “PS/2 Mouse “and press enter. This will disable the integrated touch pad when an external PS/2 mouse is connected.
  5. Press “Esc” key and select “Save and exit”.

Restart the computer and check the functionality of the touchpad when external mouse is connected.

Please reply for further help.

It didn't work, I am using an USB mouse, not a PS2 mouse.
