Second hard drive in Inspiron 1720

I'm looking to add a second hard drive to my Inspiron 1720. I currently have a 160GB 7200RPM hard drive in bay 1. I run Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

Does anyone know how big a secondary hard drive my system will take? Also, is there a guide on how to install the drive and get it working in Vista as a secondary? I know I need the caddy + parts, I'm more concerned with what to do after physically installing the drive.

Thanks

It'll take any capacity 2.5" 9.5 mm SATA notebook drive.  500G is currently the largest available and they're bargains now - around $100.

Once installed, open the disc manager in the control panel (under computer management/admin tools) and partition and format the drive.

Note:  the caddy you need is NOT the same as the one for the boot drive, so be sure to make that clear when ordering.
