Sound is broken on XPS/Inspiron M140/630m
The sound on my dell laptop doesn't work anymore. It's not muted and I rebooted severaltimes to no avail. Plugging in headphones does not work. The control panel states that sound devices are working properly.
Any ideas on what the problem is?

So, no sound from the headphones when you plug them in? My first suggestion would be to run Dell diagnostics to see if you have sound there.
You can get to the diags by hitting F12 at power up and choosing diagnostics from the boot menu.
