System Recovery Discs

My wife just bought a Inspiron i15n 3000. I need to know what kind of DVDs to buy to creat the system recovery discs. Should I get DVD-R? And what speed should I get, 8x or 16x? I can't seem to find the specs for the CD/DVD drive so I don't know if it's a 8x or 16x speed drive.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Hi father time,

Welcome to the community.

Well, the recovery discs should be single layer or dual layer DVDs. So yes, DVD-R will work. Please refrain from using rewritable (DVD-RWs) discs and they may not work. Also both the 8x and 16x speeds will work to create the discs. However in case you do not have a 16x DVD player installed in the computer, please order an 8x DVD as it will not play 16x DVD.

You can use the instructions provided on the link below to create the discs-

Also please refer to the link below to go through all FAQs before creating the discs-

Please let me know in case there are any other concerns. Glad to be of assistance.
