Upgrade graphics card in Dell Studio XPS 16
Hi,
I am planning to buy Dell Studio XPS 16 with basic configuration. In india it comes with 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670. It is not good enough for Gaming like crysis. I want to know whether I can upgrade this graphics card at latter stage or not. I like to upgrade it with ATI HD 4650.
Regards,

only intergrated graphic card are apart of the motherboard, dedicated graphic is seperate and have there own RAM. unless your like my friend that bought a generic brand type laptop and the gpu was soldered to the mothered.
ejn63 is right it's best to get the graphic card with the laptop to avoid any problems.

While that used to be true, it is no longer true. Except for the M1730 and high-end Precision mobile workstations, all other Dell notebooks now have video soldered onto the system board, a design Dell resisted for years while others used, but which they too have adopted.
Unless you're absolutely sure there's a separate video card, assume there isn't and that there's no upgrade.
In the case of all Studio and Studio XPS models, the video is permanently soldered to the system board, integrated or discrete.

No, the video cannot be upgraded - it is part of the system board.
If you want the ATI 4670 video, be sure you order the system with it.

While it's true that these have discrete card options, only the M1730 and M6400 are current - all the others are at least a generation old and out of production, and have nothing to do with the Studio and Studio XPS, none of which have removeable video cards.

No. None of the current Inspiron, Vostro, Studio or Studio XPS models are video upgradeable in any way.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply
In India Dell Studio XPS 16 dosen't come with ATI 4670 graphics card option.
I want to know that is it possible to upgrade graphic card in Dell Studio XPS 13 if I go with 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 9500M-GE with Hybrid SLI® Technology.
Can I replace this graphic card with some other in future?
