You need to have installed the chipset drivers and system software first. Then reboot and install the proper video drivers - you may have nVidia or ATI video.
If you do not know which you have, visit support.dell.com, enter your service tag number and choose Original Configuration.
I have the NVidea. I have installed everything first. I used the Dell CD with the drivers and used the checkmarks to install what I needed. However the checkmarks do not show for the video so you must choose. I chose the nVidea GeForce FX Go5200 and installed those. Packing slip shows 64MB NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 Go Card. I have not upgraded anything.
However if I go into Device Manager and view by connection it shows:
Intel(R) 82855PM Processor to AGP Controller - 3341 (and underneath branched off of it)
Dell Support helped me. I had to download the chipset and the nVidea drivers from the Dell site. I did not realize that the Video Controller problem was tied to the chipset driver and Nvidea driver had new version too. I needed to download the chipset drivers and nVidea drivers. He suggested that I burn the driver exes to CD since it took me (dial-up user) an hour to download the nVidea driver.

Yellow ? - Video Controller (VGA compatible)
I don't know how to resolve it.
