Vostro 1000 and ATI Radeon Xpress 1150

When I view the XP Home system properties it displays 896MB RAM. The ATI CCC displays that 128MB is used for the video frame buffer. Those two number equal 1024MB which is what the system has in total RAM. However, when I look at the adapter size from the system information tool or the display properties it is reporting 320MB. Where is the extra 192MB of memory coming from?

That is system RAM used as "Hypermemory", in addition to on-board video RAM.
You can be happy with XP, on my 2GB Inspiron wiht Xpress 1300 831MB are used in summary.
Thanx to the super drivers from DELL, no way out.
First and last time I bought DELL.

You will find quite a few notes regarding this issue on this forum.
And a few ones were already deleted by DELL ...
