Vostro external display problems
Hi All,
Have a much loved Vostro 1720 with the nVidia GEForce 9600M GS graphics hardware.
I use an external dell display and run dual screen with my laptop screen.
My problem is that every time there's a windows alert condition (be it the connection or disconnection of a USB device, or the VPN connecting or dropping out), the external display goes blank for 2 or 3 seconds and then comes back on. Sometimes it will blank and return 2 or 3 times before settling.
Anyone know what can be done to fix this? It doesn't impact the operation of the computer but it is getting rather annoying.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.
Driver version is 179.17
Video BIOS 62.94.8D.00.0B

Please update the video driver using the link below.

In this link punch in the system service tag or express service code and select the right OS, under the Video category select the video driver and install it in the system.
Also try with a different known good external monitor and check if the issue persists?
