WiFi Switch?

So I have an Inspiron 5160 and I just bought a router. The problem is after I set everthing up and I tried to connect wirelessly, it said "no wireless networks were found in range." I've tried just about every possible solution to try and get it to work. What I don't understand is how to turn my wireless switch on. Is there a button? If so, where?

If you have a mini pci network card that is internal, you must click on FN F2 to enable it to work. Let us know what card and router you have in order to help you better.

You should just be able to plug in your router and enable you network card and it should come up within range. If your network card is installed correctly you should have a wifi icon in your system tray that you can click on see if it is connected if not then you will have to click on connect. Is there any security setup on this router. What I mean is has anyone setup any security, or did you take straight out of the box and plug it in.

It has been taken right out of the box and was plugged in.

So did you connect it to the cable modem which provides you internet service? Can you plug in to the router with an ethernet cord using you network adapter(not wireless) and see if you can access the internet.

I can only access the internet with the cable that came with the router. As soon as it is unplugged, I lose internet connection. Nothing else seems to work either.
