battery icon reports plugged in not charging

I bought a new battery from DELL. It continually reads "plugged in, not charging." My adapter is good. The battery is good. Why is the battery not being charged? How do I correct this problem.I'm ready to return the battery and only use AC from now on. I have been fighting this situation for months! Please help me.

Hi,

I would recommend you to update BIOS and Chipset Driver of the laptop. Please click the link below which will take you to the driver’s website:

Enter the Service Tag of the computer and choose the Operating System installed on the computer. Please update the latest version of BIOS available.
