I just noticed last week when I went to push the volume up and down that the icon no longer appears to move the volume. I know have to open the volume control and do it. Any help on why they are no longer working???

Hi,
Welcome to the community
Will the volume increase when you push the button? Or does the mute function work?
Try installing quickset on your laptop here is the link ;
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?DriverId=Y1D7M&FileId=2940604754&productCode=inspiron-1525&urlProductCode=False
Download file and install, then restart the computer and see if this works.

Hi,
You said you can control the volume within windows, right? The only issue is you cannot use the media buttons on top keyboard to control volume correct? Can you remove the hinge cover? Underneath the hinge is the media bay controls, try reseating it.

I see, this is an issue with the media control board. Is this under warranty? Dell can replace parts if you have an active warranty. Feel free to add me as a friend and send me the service tag of the computer.

Sorry to hear that. However, you can reach our Parts Department at 1-800-2884410 for you to know the price of a specific part.
