keyboard problems

the keyboard on my inspiron 6000 is very tempremental
i will be typing and half way through a sentence the cursor will dissappear and what i type will not be shown on screen, i have to click onto the screen again to get the cursor up to be able to continue typing
it happens on all keys, not just any in particular
is this loose wiring maybe?
any suggestions as to how i can get it fixed and how much it should roughly cost?

many thanks

Run the Dell diagnostics on the keyboard (F12 at powerup). If the keyboard fails, it will cost about $30 to replace.

The other thing you can try is an external keyboard - if the external one works, replace the internal keyboard.
