need replacement instructions for inspiron 6000 display hinges
hello all, hope everything is well. the display on my laptop will no longer stay in the upright position and instead falls about halfway to horizontal. when the monitor is folded down, there is a clear separation between the bezel and the back cover. I think there is something wrong with the hinges and need to be replaced. I've searched around and have not found any instructions for replacing the hinges for an inspiron 6000 and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Below are a few pictures i took of the problem. Thanks for the help.

You can download a manual for the Inspiron 6000 here:
It shows how to gain access to the area in your pictures and see what may have gone amuck.
Hope it helps!

Hello,
I have the same problem on my laptop. I have ordered at DELL sales for LCD BEZEL and Hinge tool kit to replace them. The total cost is $24.85. But I am not sure how to replace them ? Do you able to fix this issue? If so please let me know how you have fixed.
Thanks inadvance for your response

Hello Ramanath, if you go to the links above in the first response to my question it will show you step by step procedures for addressing the hinge problem. I did it by myself and saved probably a hundred dollars or so. If you have a set of those smaller screw drivers etc used for electronics then you should be able to do it yourself. Just make sure you have a nice, large and clear empty work area.

You do need to replace the back cover of display.
The part is this one:

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply.
Do you have a sister company in the UK? Or will you ship to the UK?
Thanks again!!

Hi.
I'm not sure if we have the same problem. Your symptom is similar, my display screen will not hold in an upright position.
Undoing the bracket holding the screen in place (is it called the bezel?) I have noticed that the screen should be attached to the hinges by 4 screws, 2 on each hinge. Initially, re-attaching the screws seem to work, but now it does not stay in place, even with the use of a thread locker. I can still make out the thread on the screws, which leads me to believe that the hole the screws go into has worn out.
I then tried to remove that part, but it appears to be attached to the screen casing.
My question is this, do I need to replace the entire back casing? If so, where can I buy this part from?
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance
Colin

I have the same problem, where the thread has worn out. The link you have provided is to replace the whole back cover, do you know if the threaded connector is available to purchase seperately and also in the UK.
Thanks

Sorry, but I was not able to find that info. I ended up using the laptop as a desktop, propping it up against the wall :-(

Not to worry, appreciate the response. I think I will end up buying a complete new lid, I've asked round a bit but that appears to be the only solution. Fingers crossed I will be able to remove the part I need and not have to replace the whole lot :S
