Hi robert20,
The AC adapters shipped with the system are 90 Watt and 130 Watt. The AC adapter that would have been shipped with your system depends on the system's configuration. If your system was shipped with 130 Watt AC adapter, it is recommended to use the same Wattage of adapter, otherwise your system may not wok properly.
It is okay to play games on your system without the battery. Please share some more information on the issue with the games. Also, please let me know which AC adapter are you using with your system.
Keep me posted. Please reply for any further questions.

Hi robert20,
This can either be an issue with the ac adapter or the motherboard. Let's try and isolate the issue:
Check the ac adapter's status in BIOS:
Boot the system into windows. Place the cursor on the battery icon on the right bottom corner of the system and it will show either of the messages:
In case of 'Plugged in, not charging' message, check the battery health meter:
In case you do not find this option, install Quickset application on your system:
Also, connect an alternate ac adapter to check if that charges the battery properly.
I will also recommend you to update the system BIOS in case the message is 'Plugged in, not charging':
Note: Please save any unsaved data as your system will restart automatically after updating the BIOS. Disconnect all the external peripherals like printer, camera, scanner, external hard drive, flash drive etc. Also, the battery should be charged 10% or above.
As far as the system freezing issue is concerned, I will recommend you to uninstall and re install the video driver:
Keep me posted. Please reply for any further questions.
