Hi,
I had the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720.
The Device Manager displayed an error for a device called:
Intel WiUSB >
USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller.
I did some search and found that this problem is occuring not in USB 3.0 drivers or Intel Chipset drivers etc., but in Intel Wireless Display (Intel WiDi) drivers.
The resolution to this problem according to Intel is:
Installation of WiDi software version 3.5 or higher.
You can use download the latest drivers from Intel:
http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-034110.htm
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/wireless-display
But Intel says that it only provides generic versions of drivers, and it recommends downloading from the computer manufacturer as there could be some alterations and customizations incorporated by the manufacturer.
So, I downloaded the latest Drivers for WiDi for my model from Dell support:
They are available under
Application > Intel WiDi Application
It was a 250 MB setup file (Application_Intel_W8_A02_Setup-NPPC8_ZPE.exe)
I installed it and after reboot, the Device Manager showed no error and it was updated as follows:
Intel WiUSB >
USB-IF USB 3.0 Hub
USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller
The setup file updated both the WiDi Application and the Drivers to the new version.
I hope this helps.
