what to choose ? (core i7 740 QM Vs. Core i5 460 M)

Hello all,

I am going to buy Dell studio 15 (T540613IN8), HM 55 chipset, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB 7200RPM SATA, ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5470 - 1GB.

The confusion I am facing is with processors either to go for intel core i5 460M or intel core i7 740-QM.

I have some queries regarding intel core i7 740-QM

1) As chipset with this configuration is intel HM 55, what will be the consequences if I go for intel core i7 740-QM processor ?

(since intel site says that this particular core i7 processor is compatible with intel PM 55 chipset.)

2) intel core i7 740 power dissipation is 45 Watts (as compared to 35 W with intel core i5 460-M).

Will there be any heating issue involved with core i7 if I go with this existing configuration ?

Will 6-cell lithium ion battery is sufficient for core i7 processor (or I have to go for extra 9 cell lithium ion battery ?)

3) I want to use my laptop for development and education purpose (which includes programming with matlab, scilab, running different virtualization environment using both windows and linux, running computation specific softwares, internet browsing etc.) and not for gaming purpsoe.

So which processor will be the right choice for me ?
