x300 USB problem

i have an x300 that fails to recognize any USB device plugged in to any USB port. i reinstalled XP Pro recently and have SP3. i've updated the BIOS (A10) and the chipset. nothing seems to work. i have power at the USB ports, my USB drives light up (solid light, not flashing like they normally do) and the external CD drive has power, but it's not being recognized by the laptop. i'm losing it. help!

i did. i've read some suggestions that it's a BIOS setting, but i don't see anything relevant when i access BIOS at startup.

Did you install the Dell notebook system software and Intel chipset driver?

Do you have a USB mouse to try?  If so, does it work?

Tried the USB mouse and no luck.

Does it work in Safe Mode?

F8 before Windows begins loading.

Sounds like a hardware problem.

You'll either need a replacement system board or a card with USB ports on it.
