Setting a Director Status

Jump to solution
Hi,

I have tried to run a symconfigure command (listed below) and get the following error message about Director Status:

# symconfigure -sid 113 -f 1.113.SPC2_ENABLE prepare

Execute a symconfigure operation for symmetrix '000290300113' (y/) ? y

A Configuration Change operation is in progress. Please wait...

Establishing a configuration change session...............Established.

Error occurred while Defining change number 1:
The operation cannot be completed; the port status is online
Terminating the configuration change session..............Done.

The configuration change session has failed.

There is nothing connected to this FA at the moment so I have no problem setting it offline.

PROBLEM: What is the command to set a Director offline?

Regards

Dynamox - Thanks that seems to have worked.

However when I double checked the Director Status it was still registering as online even though the command had worked to set it to offline. I ran a symcfg disco and still said "online".

It has allowed me to update the SPC2 flag though but just weird it never changed the status. I was testing this on a new development DMX but need to do it in production (against another unused set of FAs) and I am a bit nerved by the fact that there seemed to be no difference.

Director Ports Status : [ON,ON,N/A,N/A]

after you set port offline ..and ran "symcfg list -sid 113 -dir 8a -p 0 -v" ..there were two "ON" ?

No I can see that difference now:

WHEN in an "ONLINE" state it says:
[ON,ON,N/A,N/A]

WHEN in an "OFFLINE" state it says:
[ON,OFF,N/A,N/A]

What do these different settings relate to is something like the port number i.e. 0,1,2.3?

Each FA processor have 2 different ports. Other processors may have up to 4 different ports.
S. E. is simply showing you the status of both ports (the first is ON, the second is OFF).
