Adding A New HDD to Inspiron 3670

I'm trying to add a new HDD to my Inspiron 3670 and was wondering if this cable will work.

https://www.moddiy.com/products/Dell-Vostro-3000-3267-3667-3668-3250-3252-6%252dPin-to-2xSATA-Power-Cable.html

It's a 6 pin to SATA power cable so it should work, correct?  Just want to make certain before I buy it and have it shipped to Australia.

a new what, what does that mean.

replacing HDD to SSD on SATA port 0,  or and a 2nd drive.

does it boot to a     m.2 card now?

3670 ,

what is there now in the 6 pin jack (3 answers), we can not see inside any PC, even show photos. ok?

non, no dvd

2 ends. 1 sata, 1 dvd

or 2 ends both sata and no DVD.  (seems dell has cables for each, not just one, and is silly really(economies of scale and such) in fact a 4th cable is  possible but dell does not like parts lists,  (unlike HP parts surfer)

have you opened the case yet, and see all sata ports there and all SATA power cables there now, even tied up?

the spec sheet shows.

  • One 3.5-inch Hard-Disk Drive (HDD)
SATA AHCI, Up to 6 Gbps Up to 2 TB
Up to two 2.5-inch Hard-Disk Drives (HDD) SATA AHCI, Up to 6 Gbps Up to 1 TB
One M.2 2280 Solid-State Drive (SSD) PCIe 3 x4 NVME, Up to 32 Gbps Up to 512 GB
One Optical-Disk Drive (ODD) SATA, up to 3 Gbps

surely the word two above means 2 more power cables, no? (oops optional)

when you open the case first you see then non ATX PSU, and no PSU SATA power, there. at PSU

so that means it needs cables from the MOBO to run all SATA drives.  due to VRMs are on the motherboard.

2nd glance lots of room to add things even adding SSD mounts, endless to connect them.

3rd glance see 4 USB ports, blue is boot port. so no lack of USB ports, Im looking now, inside same pc.

NO DVD?  do you have DVD?

the 6 pin jack next to the coin cell is marked SATA power, is your cable missing or wrong one?

if you looked first and has no 2nd full SATA power jack then it is the wrong cable.  but below is it.

i do see some 3670 came new with lame cable(cheapskates)  1 sata, 1 dvd.

what I did to many dells here (no dvd needed ever) is cut the DVD cable end, and solder on a SATA power connector. (15min work, not 1+ months ship from USA to down under)

i think (dell hates parts lists) but is D/PN:

GP2JM

this is the dell cable , find it local using your ebay nor ours?

GP2JMGP2JM

they also make dvd power to sata power adapters. (slim dvd , common)

in one case, (not wanting to wait) i had bad slim dvd and remove the power jack and made my own

dvd power slim  to SATA adapter.  ( when PSUs blow up, i cut off all the wires and connectors and box them)

best when posting show photo of inside PC,  nothing works better, and for sure with FLASH enabled.

nobody does but there you go.

your 2 jacks are here.  , the distance to your SATA drive may be key here.  if cable is too short.

I cant see inside your PC, to know all things inside or modifications or anything, nor true intent. nor missing things. see?

There are 2 6 pin ports on the motherboard for power to hard drives/optical drives.

Dell part 45GG3 = SATA power cable for 3670 motherboard to 2.5" HDD mounted onto the front cover of the case.

Its Dell proprietary not any specific standard.  The power supply itself does not have power connections for sata drives.  2 drives mount on the front of the case and 1 drive with optical mounts in the other side.

There are 4 Sata ports on a 3670.  GP2JM is what the 3650 uses.

Dell part number needed for 3670 is: 045GG3

NON OEM recommended would be

That's why there are 2 of the 6 pin connections on the motherboard.

Dell also uses splitters.

Thank you for your response. I don't really shop from Amazon so I was just wondering if this cable from ModDIY would work since it looks like the same cable.

It's got the SATA power on one side and a 6 pin connector on the other.

That cable is for 3650 with the drives mounted in caddies.

Caddy: X9FV3
Motherboard SATAP2 power cable: GP2JM

3670 mounts drives onto the front of the case.

So it depends as to whether or not it works based on how long the distance is from the board to the drive.

3650 not same 36703650 not same 3670

3670 is monty python COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

3670 does not use CADDY3670 does not use CADDY

why not ask them directly , at their web site. DIY

they are not dell.

why not google for the cable in your country and avoid , long long ship times or expensive air ships.

if you google in your country using my provide dell P/N you might get hits , even in your own town.

local always is best.  unless long delays and huge ship costs are fun.

my guess is EBAY , you have no account there too?

I once sailed to your country and know just how far it is from here.  I do.

due to your location ive no clue where you can buy things, not at all, if you have limits, tell them.

fixing PCs is easy finding good parts NOT SO. (even long delays and getting wrong parts. or bad.)

and dell has no parts lists so only massive GOOGLE searching gets the facts. (painfully)

why not call them, direct , use  the contact pages read that and  do that.

even chat

adding second HDD to PC is covered in the manual (NOTICE THE WORD 2ND)

LOCATION MATTERS AS DOES DISTANCE,  NO CLEAR INTENTIONS STATED BY OP.

if you read it.THAT MANUAL. (DELL.COM ) it's all there, to read 24/7,

a new caddy, a new drive, and new cables. x2

4 things must be in hand.
