Inspiron 3647, is a full size, Netgear WiFi Card compatible if it has the low profile bracket?

In theory, a NetGear PCIe x1 WiFi card could work. Dell only validated the mini cards, DW1704 and DW1705.

Thanks, We plan to put a Netgear WPN311 in place.
Oddly it fits but it appears there is about 3/8th of an inch extra space in the slot.
Does that make any sense? Is it common for there to be open space in a PC slot?

The Netgear WPN311 is the old PCI technology. You need the new PCIe x1 WiFi card.

Get a $20 USB WIFI adapter. This model with windows 8 or 10 is plug and play without needing to install any drivers.
