Inspiron 3647, max ram?

My system info:

System Model: Inspiron 3647
System Type: x64-based PC
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4160 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3600 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

My RAM: 4GB DDR3 (Already installed)

My Question:

What is the total amount of RAM I can add to my Inspiron 3647?

If YES

I already have DDR3 4GB RAM loaded, can I add 12 GB of DDR3 RAM in another RAM slot (the reason why I said 12 GB is DELL Inspiron 3647 Specification guide PDF)

Please let me know can I even add 12GB of RAM to slot(2) [what is the max amount of RAM each slot supports]

Options I got:

  1. Add 12GB of RAM in the slot(2) and make it 16GB.(TOTAL RAM- 16GB)
  2. Add two 8 GB DDR3 RAM by removing already installed 4GB RAM (TOTAL RAM - 16GB)
  3. Add one more 4GB RAM in the slot(2) (TOTAL RAM - 8GB)

Confusion I got:

I already have 4GB of DDR3 RAM installed now I want to upgrade my PC's performance by adding more RAM. I like to have 16 GB of RAM in my PC my question is " what is the max capacity of RAM my PC can hold??" I like to add 12GB at a time in the slot(2) but can I add 12GB at a time? Will the second slot support 12GB or) should I add 8+8 GB of RAM?

Please let me know.

@Krishna1998 Make sure you buy the Ram with 240PIN and DDR3 - 1600 MHZ. and i can suggest that you go for 16GB it might cost somewhere around $39 - $50 each.

Aren't the newer PC capable of dual channel mode with memory sticks that aren't the same size? I know my dell 3670 PCs are. All three came with a 4GB and 8GB stick. And they are still running in dual channel mode. In the old days the sticks needed to be the same size.
