Inspiron 530s, EFI part Please remove this media and press any key to reboot

IMG_20200301_155316633.jpg

Hello,

I have a DELL Inspiron 530s and I recently created a bootable USB drive for Windows 7 using Rufus. Whenever I boot up the USB drive, I get a screen saying: "EFI part: Please remove this media and press any key to reboot". How do I fix this issue?

This MS page may help. Also consider that you have a pretty dated system (going on 12 years old) and will have to source all the drivers yourself. And add to that the fact that Windows 7 is no longer supported by MS so raises a number of security issues on your PC. The time is coming that you may have to think about replacing the system with a new PC.

Thank you. Also, I do plan on getting a new PC really soon. The 530s is aIl I have right now so that's why I use it.

530s?  G31 core2. relic PC, from 2007, now 13 years old. NO UEFI HERE.

I have a DELL Inspiron 530s and I recently created a bootable USB drive for Windows 7 using Rufus.

using what ISO.?

win 7 32bit or 64bit.?

Whenever I boot up the USB drive, I get a screen saying: "EFI part: Please remove this media and press any key to reboot". How do I fix this issue?  UEFI, error it is.

you put a UEFI ONLY boot stick in PC in  LEGACY mode,(old is legacy)

you used the wrong RUFU program use the new one v3.1 and turn off UEFI. per below.

Rufus can work ,i have many sticks her  right now  with  w7 and all work . that I made.

click select go to your ISO , server here but same. steps. MBR yes means no UEFI

@xintouo

Use this settings for Rufus:

1. Partion scheme - MBR

2. Target system - BIOS(or UEFI-CSM)

3. File system - NTFS

Leave the rest as default.

Thank you Savvy.

Created an account just to show my appreciation of your support that worked a treat.

Good to learn as I may run into this problem in the future (as I help friends and repair conputers)

Learnt something new today with older machines and appreciate that.

Thank you
