Inspiron 560, trying to wipe

Got a new laptop and want to wipe my old Dell desktop and get this message:

Your CD/DVD drive during this boot cycle is f:

A RAMDISK drive is available for this boot cycle as C: It contains several Hard Drive setup tools. Please use these tools only under the direction of Dell Support Staff.

What the heck does this mean? What do i do?

Might help if you told us what you're doing, eg booting from the CD drive, when you get that message.

You could wipe the system using DBAN (free). Download the free DBAN ISO file version onto any PC then use Rufus (free) to create a bootable USB stick from the DBAN ISO file.

When the USB is prepared, plug it into the Inspiron 560 while it's powered off.  Reboot and immediately press F12. Look for the option to boot from USB. After it boots from the USB and you're at the prompt, type in dban.exe and press Enter. Follow the prompts to wipe the C drive. Just make sure all the files you want to keep are backed up elsewhere before running DBAN.
