Inspiron 5680 RAM Issues

Hey all,

So I have the 5680 with an i5 8400 and the 1060 3gb. I bought 16gb's of 2666 C15 G-Skill ram. I put them into the computer and opened the bios to see that it is only running at 2133 and I have no option to change it. The only thing I can change on the main page is the date and time and the rest of the options are greyed out. Can I even change the ram settings with this bios? Do I just have to deal with my memory not running at its full speed?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Your computer can accept 2400 or 2666Mhz ram.  What it sounds like is the computer doesn't like the RAM you got which if its performance ram, the timings and so forth could be out of the set range of the computer.  In all honesty I wouldn't waste money on high performance RAM with this type of machine.  Its basically a mid tier gaming system so putting high performance stuff is kind of a waste of money imho.  I would try some Crucial ram or something more "normal" tier and see if that works as it sounds like the ram was set to basic defaults.
