Two additional monitors.

Good Morning,

Please can someone help to see if this is possible.

I have purchased Dell's New All in one 7700 computer.

Ports & Slots

1. Security lock slot | 2. DC Power | 3. HDMI-out (1.4) | 4. HDMI-in | 5. USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C™ | 6. RJ-45 Ethernet 10/100/1000 | 7. USB 2.0 Type A | 8. USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A | 9.USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A | 10. USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A | 11. Microphone/Headset Jack | 12. SD Card Reader 3.0

I would like to set up two additional monitors. S2721HS Dell monitors.

However there is only 1 x HDMI out on the back of the computer. I have tried linking one of the monitors through to USB-C via a HMDI USB-c adaptor but it doesn't work.

Currently one monitor is working through the only HDMI out port. Is there a way to connect the second?

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea

no matter what USB adapter you use it must have drivers installed.

I doubt it works usb-c because those tend to want thunderbolt 3 ports not regular usb 3.0 ports.  This is why I recommended the specific adapter .  This is also why its $50 and not $14 because it has actual electronics inside not a pass thru.

This doesnt involve USB-C or thunderbolt or any other nonsense EVER.This doesnt involve USB-C or thunderbolt or any other nonsense EVER.

Thunderbolt 3 port compatible devices tend to not work at all with USB-C only computers.

Not working is due to

  • The system does not meet the hardware requirements for Thunderbolt 3
  • The system has the capability but was not ordered with an OPTIONAL Thunderbolt 3 controller

USB to HDMI works but it requires drivers.

Simple Driver Installation: When you insert our usb 3.0 to hdmi adapter to your computer through USB3.0 port, then it will prompt a driver automatically, then just follow the step and install it. With user guides and a link to https://www.displaylink.com/downloads

NOTE: IS NOT plug and play,

Do we know that USB-c on this specific PC model supports video output?

And you might have better luck with a USB-c(PC)>DisplayPort(monitor), assuming the monitor has DP input.  Or just use a USB3>HDMI dongle as was already suggested.
