dell bluetooth

I have an Inspiron 3847. Sometime after the last update my Dell 1705 bluetooth stopped working.

I get an error saying " Device USB\VID_0CF3&PID_0036\5&1a82657&0&10 requires further installation. "

I tried to reinstall it by going to  "programs and features" and then clicking change and then reinstall, but that did not work.  My OS Image must also be corrupted. Is there an installable Bluetooth 1705 program ?

Are you running Win 10? And was that update to Win 10 v2004?

Is BT 1705 listed in Device Manager? Does it have an ! next to its entry, or is there an "unknown" device listed anywhere in Device Manager?

Dell's last driver for 1705 WiFi and BT is here. It's old and it may not work with Win 10 v2004. Dell hasn't tested the Inspiron 3847 for compatibility with Win 10 v1909 or v2004. The last version they tested was v1903.

That doesn't mean those later versions won't work, but Dell is probably unlikely to issue any new drivers...

yes I have windows 10 v2004

BT 1705 is in the device manager, no ! next to it

could not find anything listed as " unknown device " in the device manager

will try that driver and see what happens

Post back and let us know if installing that BT driver solves the problem.

Otherwise, you may have to revert to the previous version of Win 10, assuming BT was working with that version. Alternatively,  if you want to keep Win 10  v2004, you could disable BT in Device Manager and plug in a USB>BT dongle.

Tried almost everything, nothing worked. I can get it to work by disabling it and then enabling it in device manager.

Going to have to start bugging dell for a patch, update or whatever.

Thank you very much for your help.

Sorry that didn't help.  A lot of PC models are having BT issues after installing Win 10 v2004 so Microsoft needs to fix v2004.

If you're desperate to use BT, you could disable the onboard BT in Device Manager and plug in a USB3>BT dongle...
