2 year old Inspiron 5179 won't boot up

We bought this Dell for daily use at home, because of the reliability of past Dell products.  Lap top is just over 2 years old.  Was running fine, no issues, then after unplugging from power cord it shut off abruptly.  Now it won't boot up.  Starts for a few seconds, fan turns on, keyboard lights up, but after 5-6 seconds shuts down.  Nothing appears on the screen during this few seconds of attempted boot up.  Have replaced power cord, to no avail.

General troubleshooting:

Unplug the system and disconnect the battery from the  mainboard.  Hold the power button for 30 seconds.

If the RAM is removeable, remove and reinstall it.

Plug in the AC adapter (no battery) and see if it'll power up.  If it will, reconnect the battery and try again; if the battery connected halts powerup, the battery is bad.  Replace it.

Anything more likely means a mainboard replacement;  there is no "Inspiron 5179" model -- is this a Latitude 5179?

1. Check whether the power cord is plugged in properly.
2. Check whether the hard disk is loose, and operate after power off.
3. If the hard disk is loose, disassemble the computer and re-plug the hard disk; if there is a beeping sound after turning on the computer, disassemble the computer and re-plug the memory module.
