Active pen for inspiron 7000 17" 7773 2in1

Models that support an active pen ship with a sticker on them stating "pen compatible".  If yours came with that sticker, you can order the active pen.  If it didn't, it will not work with an active pen -- you can use a generic capacitive stylus, but there is no pressure sensitive digitizer in the system.

OK. Thanks for deception Dell..I'm so disapointed, would never buy a 17in touchscreen laptop that doesn't support pen!!

So conclusion,

I don't know of any 17" notebook systems that support an active pen -- even 15" systems that do aren't all that common.  There are many at and under 13-14" but once the size of the screen increases, so does the cost of the panel - a 15" active screen alone would be a few hundred dollars -- and a 17" probably close to 50% more expensive.  You're not going to find an active screen in a notebook like the 7773 that starts under $1K.

I just purchased this computer from Best Buy two days ago thinking it supported an active pen. The salesman even told me it did. It even says "Built For Windows Ink" on this item in their ad this week. 

I was trying to find out exactly which pen it supports and I stumbled upon this discussion. 

I don't know what to believe. I want to know definitively before ordering one!

Microsoft Ink will work with just about any stylus -- but as this is a 17" system, it doesn't have a pressure sensitive digitizer for an active pen.

Wait, so this computer DOESN'T support an active stylus?

I bought this computer just this week from Best Buy because it had a "Built For Windows Ink" label on it. 

I just hadn't gotten around to purchasing the pen alongside it. I actually came online tonight looking to see which pen to buy and then stumbled upon this.

The salesman even told me the computer supports the Bamboo Ink.

No, this system won't support an active stylus.  Capacitive, yes.  Active (Bamboo style), no.

I bought the same laptop (online order).  Dell even said the stylus "PN338M" was the proper stylus. Guess what.. $45.00 and NO GO.  It would be nice if they knew what they were talking about.

I was duped by the same Best Buy deception.  VERY disappointed.

Price comparison between Cintiq tablet and Inspiron 17" 2-in-1 notebook does not apply. This tablet has a 15.6" screen for 1,500USD, and the old Inspiron 7568 2-in-1 had the same screen size (15.6") and was active pen enabled for 1000USD or below. The price of Cintiq is high because of its 4K resolution and color gamut.

Well  I bought one on my own with the erroneous advertising that came with it. Now what do I do with a pen that is never going to work with the laptop I ordered from you guys support.

Matter of fact considering the smooth operation that the digitizer gives what should I do with a 1200.00 laptop that will not perform as stated?

Which Pen did you purchase?  The PN579X has an option to change the configuration so it will work on either type of system, assuming it is capable of using an active pen.  The 7573 does seem to be compatible but I saw no indication the 7773 was.  I use one of the capacitive touch pens with my 7779.

When I purchased my 7779 there were no Inspirons using an Active PEN.  Now, certain ones do but the sticker requirement is a little odd.  There needs to be something more definitive than having a sticker or not.
