Is it safe to upgrade BIOS A02 to BIOS A10 in my Inspiron 1420 windows 7 32 bit computer?

Hey I just upgraded my bios thanks for your idea!

1.Download the exe file(bios update)

2.Navigate to rufus.ie and download it.

3.In the "boot selection",press FreeDOS

4.Press "start"

5.Move the exe file(bios update) to the USB

6.Reboot and press F12 and choose USB

7.Press dir

8.Type the name of the exe file like this e.g. biosupdatename.EXE /forceit

9.Done!

I hope this helps for anyone who needs to update bios without battery and you are running low in option!

Welcome to the Dell Community   @inspiron1420user

It uses DOS to do the update so it should not matter what version OS you have installed.

First method:

Create a new folder on your desktop named “BIOS Update”

Then download your BIOS update from your Driver Support page.

Copy the update to that folder you just created.

Close all Windows and Apps you may have open.

Go to the folder and right click on the update file and “Run as Administrator”

Second method:

Create a bootable USB drive using “Rufus”

https://rufus.ie/

Copy the BIOS update to the bootable USB drive you just created..

Insert USB drive, power-on and start tapping the “ F12 “ key.

Boot from USB and run the BIOS update.

After reboot test and post any results.

Best regards,

U2
