Why does this happen?

Does the system have a recognized AC adapter (F2 at powerup to check) AND a battery that's at least 50% charged? If not, the update will fail.

Create a new folder on your desktop named “BIOS Update”
Then download your BIOS update.
Dell Inspiron System BIOS:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=w1j1p&oscode=wt64a&productco...
Copy the update to that folder you just created.
Close all Windows and Apps you may have open.
Go to the folder and right click on the update file and “Run as Administrator”

I have removed my battery due to a battery failure and now I'm using my laptop with an AC adapter only.

Or is there any option to discard pending BIOS updates?
