Cloning HDD of Inspiron 5570 to SSD

Hello,

In the past, I've had booting issues in this particular laptop when I had installed a cloned SSD and had given up.

Using this video, https://youtu.be/BZqkYnmDnas was able to clone the HDD that came with Inspiron 5570 to a Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB SSD.

On Macrium Reflect, I dragged and dropped the smaller partitions first before moving the biggest partition (C:) while cloning. Is there anything else that need to be done to avoid booting errors?

Would appreciate any insights. Thanks!

So far so good. Just one more thing. Remember to disconnect the original drive before booting the system with the new drive. If everything looks good then shutdown and reconnect the old drive then format or continue on to whatever use you have in store for it. Just don't leave Windows on both drives which can cause headaches.

@JOcean: Thanks for the tip. Planning to remove the internal HDD and use it with an enclosure after formatting.

@bacillus1: Thanks for the link. Had moved all of the smaller partitions and then the C: drive in Macrium. Will post a screenshot shortly. Hope it works out.

Interesting. In the past, I've read that the Samsung Magician software isn't that good for cloning. Maybe things have changed. Good to know..

Thanks for writing, XPS_Man.

@xps8770user

You Bought a Samsung SSD, you could have used Samsung's data migration software,

Which not only moves OS to SSD but also formats your old Drive.

Leaving nothing else for you to do .

Here's a screenshot of the source and destination drives after cloning.

As you can see, the 3 smaller partitions have been cloned first before the larger C: drive. Does it look good to you guys? Thanks again.

Typing this from a computer cloned with Samsung's cloning software.

The only Bad part part about this software is, that Destination Disk should be a Samsung SSD

Most of the Negative reviews on the internet are due to that fact.
