Date and Time keeps on resetting

Hi there,

I got a problem.

My internal battery is already swollen, so I removed it from my laptop. I also replaced the CMOS battery (CR2032).

My laptop keeps on resetting the date and time whenever I unplug my laptop from the wall outlet. Is this normal knowing that I have a brand new CR2032 battery? Thanks

The CMOS battery is suppose to keep the date and time and other BIOS settings if the laptop is not connected to power whether AC or battery.

Are you sure you have the CMOS battery inserted correctly with regards to polarity?

Yes, I'm sure. So it is not normal. Perhaps it is old stock. I will try another one later.

Thanks

I have the CMOS issue with a large number of laptops. I have never seen this before. CMOS battery is good but when the main battery runs low it resets CMOS settings. I have tested these and there are a large number of these models that the CMOS does not seem to be doing it's job although the battery is still good.
