Dell G7 Power Button

Hi. I want to share with you how the quality of Dell products has fallen. I was a big fan before buying the G7, I will not describe all the problems, only this one. After 4-6 uses of the laptop, a small white strip appeared on the button. After a couple of days there was a second. https://imgur.com/a/YXIpSLB I just want to say, I don't have girl`s nails. A month later, this happened: https://imgur.com/a/xENsfdO https://youtu.be/KaP1VY0Vw-o To say I was upset is to say nothing. What should I do?

If the system is under warranty still, call  Dell tech support in your region.

Same thing happened to me. After less than 3 month of usage, button looks similar to yours. When I spoke to Dell, they told me that since the power button is still functioning, then there is nothing they can do about it. In any case, I suspect it will just happen again. I think we just have to hope until all the paint comes off and the button simply seems like it was originally all white! That said, I was reading the 90 day warranty and I didn't see it say that aesthetics are covered (I read it quickly). I think I may try with Dell again but not sure if there is any point as it will likely just happen again.

Best of luck :)

Hi,

Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. I will be glad to assist you.

Could you share some pictures of the power button peeled so I can review this further and assist you?

If the system is under warranty, please contact me privately with the below details.

For my reference, please click on the message tab next to your avatar– click “New Message” & search for my Dell username (DCFAdmin) & send a private message with the Service Tag, registered name & email address.

I also had a problem where the thin black cover on the G7 power switch cracked. I called service and after they had me send them a picture, indicated it would be covered under warranty. After I sent the computer to their depot, they called and said I caused the switch breakage and would not cover it under warranty and want $119.00 + tax to fix. I had no way of escalating this so I had them send it back to me not repaired. What a way to run a business!

I requested the transfer of warranty from Dell three times. I waited for 5 months, not a single answer except the promises in the support chat. Dell support in the USA is worse than any service in my third world country.

It is very annoying as a white light blasting out of the keyboard..
