Dell Inspiron 15 3511 Cores overheating
I have a Dell Inspiron 15/3511 w/ Intel i7-1165G7 running at 2.8G. Installed 2 monitor programs: Core Temp and Speccy. BOTH show all cores reaching 100C during quiescent use. No tasks are running in the background except the OS and McAfee. NONE of my other laptops (family has 4 and 2 additional from work; all Dells except 1) have this problem. Dell came out and replaced heat sink and fan. Did not solve the problem. Sent into Dell which again replaced heat sink and fan and "repaired" mother board ... whatever that means. Day I got it back, still had the same issue:
Temperatures spike to 100C then back down to a normal range of 40-60C. Load is up to 4%. So it's either a) CPU (since this is where the temp sensors are, my gut feeling it's that) or b) or c) faulty Intel design and that's just the way the chip works.
Has anyone ever tested their temperatures on this particular laptop?

Yes killed all services that were not absolutely necessary.

Look at the services that are running - - not just the tasks.

Run the automated tools in SupportAssist to ensure that the drivers and BIOS are up to date and your computer is optimized
Inspect and clean the air vents and fans
Restart the computer
Download and install Microsoft Windows updates
Run a hardware diagnostic test
Use Dell Power Manager to manage thermal performance (applicable for select Dell laptops).
Improve efficiency to reduce heat
Perform a Windows System Restore
Restore the computer to factory defaults

@attitudeadj Hello! Have you found the solution? Because I have the same problem on a Dell 3511.
