Dell Inspiron 5548 not charging, but has green light on AC

So my 5548 laptop won't charge, but the cable has a green light showing it's on and working. When I plug it into my laptop, it won't turn on the charging indicator on the laptop or won't show up on Windows 10.

I tried entering into the BIOS with F2 and Fn + F2 when the Dell logo shows up, but the BIOS won't show up . Can someone please help me figure this out .I really need my laptop this week .

I got it to work. This is what I did:

  1. First I shut downed the laptop, then flipped the laptop so I can unscrew to get inside.
  2. I then removed the battery from the laptop (there are 4 screws attached to it, so unscrew those, then lift the black tab out to get the battery out).
  3. Removed the battery I then pressed and held the power button for 30-40 seconds (do not plug in your charger while you do this).
  4. After you done that, put back the battery in and screw them in.
  5. Then I plugged the charger in to see if the charging light comes on and it did!.

Also if the battery icon is missing this page may help with that.

Run system diagnostics to check the health of the battery, etc. At the Dell splash screen start tapping F12. Run full diagnostics. The same procedure is for accessing the BIOS, tapping F2 when you see the Dell splash screen. When you try to access the BIOS does the system boot into Windows instead? If so it may be booting so fast that F2 is not being detected. Try to start tapping F2 as soon as you power up. Are you getting any battery errors? When you run diagnostics, pay special attention to the battery health results.

Also you can do a system reset. Disconnect the battery and unplug the adapter. Now press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then reconnect everything and try again.

Removing the cover to access the battery.
